Information About Yeast Infection Causes
Vaginal yeast infections are caused by yeast fungus generally known as Candida albicans. Candida albicans occur naturally in many parts of the human body and are kept under controlled conditions by the good bacteria. However, when these good bacteria are destroyed, the yeast fungus multiplies rapidly and cause yeast infections known as candidiasis.
The first major cause of yeast infection is prolonged use of antibiotics. Antibiotics kill both the bad bacteria and good bacteria in the system. When the good bacteria are destroyed and you continue taking antibiotics, it will provide a good breeding ground for them to thrive and attack the host.
Taking birth control pills has a similar effect to taking antibiotics. These medications disrupt the natural balance of the body and when this happens, Candida albicans overgrows and causes yeast infections.
Male can also contract yeast infections if they have sexual relationship with women who are already suffering from yeast infections. This infection can keep on passing between the two partners if you do not seek medical advice on time.
Regular douching can also be a yeast infection cause as it alters the pH balance of the vagina. When the pH balance is altered, yeast fungus thrives. Hormonal changes also occur due to pregnancy and can cause the yeast infection.
Moreover, wearing tight clothing such as jeans and tight undergarments are also a major cause of yeast infection. When a woman perspires, the tight clothing absorbs moisture and heat and creates a warm and moist environment. Such an environment provides a breeding ground for Candida to multiply rapidly and cause the yeast infection.
There are many other causes of yeast infections and most are still on the way to be discovered. Therefore, as soon as you start experiencing symptoms of yeast infection, it is important to consult a doctor and take the necessary steps to eliminate it.
